What is the NEET exam?

National Eligibility cum Entrance Test, or NEET, is a national-level medical entrance examination in India. It is held for admission to MBBS, BDS, and other medical courses in government and private institutions. The examination is regulated by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

NEET exam examination schedule:

• When to do the NEET exam 2025? Expected on 4th May 2025.

• When the NEET exam is held: The exact date will be updated on the NTA’s official website for NEET. But generally, it’s May Month.

• NEET entrance exam date: Generally, the exam is held on the first Sunday of May.

• NEET exam paper date: The exam date will be similar to the date of the NEET exam. Only one-day exam with a single shift.

• NEET exam results dated 2025: Expected in June 2025.

How many times a year is NEET held?

NEET is held once a year. The exam is usually conducted in May.

NEET exam Syllabus:

The curriculum includes Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (Botany and Zoology) from classes 11 and 12. It follows the NCERT course.

NEET exam entry fee :

• General Category: RS 1,700/-

• EWS/OBC-NCL: RS 1,600/-

• SC/ST/PWD: RS 1,000/- is subject to fee change, so students should check the official website.

NEET test mode :

The NEET exam is conducted offline (pen and paper-based tests). Students must mark their answers on an OMR sheet.

NEET exam process :

Registration: Apply online on the official website.

Admit Card: Download it from the NTA website.

Examination Day: In the assigned center, appear for offline examination.

Result Declaration: Check the results on the official website.

Counseling: Eligible candidates participate in the admission counseling process.

NEET exam paper pattern from 2020 to 2024:

Total Questions: 200 (180 should be answered)

Subject: Physics, Chemistry, Biology

Question Type: Multiple Essential Questions (MCQs)

Total points: 720

 Marking Process: +4 for each correct answer, -1 for each wrong answer

NEET Exam Structure 2020 to 2024:

Physics 50 Questions (45 to be answered) Total 180,

Chemistry 50 Questions (45 to be answered) Total 180,

Biology 100 Questions (90 to be answered) Total 360.

Total 200 Questions (180 to be answered),

Marks calculate out of 720.

NEET exam paper pattern 2025:

NTA (National Testing Agency) recently updated the news on their portal that the NEET exam pattern 2025 has been changed. The optional questions are no more from this year. The exam returns to its old format before the 2020 COVID period. So, from 2025 onwards, students will have 180 compulsory questions. Candidates will have 3 hours or 180 minutes to finish the test. The +4 for each correct answer and -1 for each wrong answer is the same as before.

 

So, this year and onwards, 45 questions in physics, 45 questions in chemistry, and 90 questions in Biology. The test will be conducted on an OMR (pen-and-paper mode) basis. The entire exam will be held in a single day and shift.

 

However, the exam mode, whether OMR or Computer based test (CBT), depends on mutual guidelines of the National Medical Commission (NMC) and Health ministries.
