What is the Mat Exam?

Management Aptitude Test or MAT is an entrance exam for an MBA or PGDM after graduation. The All India Management Association (AIMA) conducts the exam four times yearly.

The MAT exam is a gateway to pursuing an MBA or PGDM in over 800 business schools in India. Candidates can choose any of them after passing.

AIMA conducts the MAT exam in three different modes:

Exam Schedule of MAT Exam 2025:

AIMA’s official website (mat.aima.in) released the date of the MAT exam 2025 in the February session. Let’s explore the details below:

CBT and IBT Test details:

The last date for registration is March 9, 2025, and the admit card will be updated on the official website (mat.aima.in) on March 17, 2025, and the MAT exam date 2025 on March 23, 2025.

PBT or paper-based test details:

The registration date will be closed on March 2, 2025, and the admit card will be shown on the AIMA’s official website (mat.aima.in) on March 5, 2025, and the exam will be conducted on March 9, 2025.

MAT Exam Pattern:

The MAT exam pattern consists of five sections. Appearing students can check out the exam pattern from the official website (mat.aima.in) and prepare themselves accordingly. One hundred fifty (150) questions need to be finished in 120 minutes or 2 hours each with 30 questions.

MAT Test 2025 Structure:

The five sections are:

  1. Language Comprehension
  2. Intelligence & Critical Reasoning
  3. Mathematical Skills
  4. Data Analysis & Sufficiency
  5. Economic & Business Environment

Each of the above sections consists of 30 questions. So, a total of 150 questions and which need to be completed in 120 minutes.

Marking Scheme of MAT:

Each correct entry means +1, -0.25 for a wrong entry, and zero (0) if there is no attempt.

Test Eligibility:

The students who have completed their graduation or final year pursuing candidates can also appear on the MBA Entrance Exam of MAT. Whatever stream or subjects you have pursued in your bachelor’s degree doesn’t matter; you are eligible if you are a graduate, and marks are no bar.

MAT Exam Entrance Fee?

As discussed earlier, there are three types of exam modes. However, if students choose PBT or CBT, offline or online, the fee is 2100 rupees. However, if candidates prefer PBT and CBT both, the cost would be 3600 rupees.

When applying for the MAT exam, students can select five management institutes if they choose CBT or PBT. However, they can opt for an additional 2 management institutes if they prefer both modes. So, they can add 7 MBA institutes to their priority list.
